New discovery of large-scale vanadium titanium magnetite deposits in Xinjiang

Urumqi, September 10 (Xinhua) -- According to the Hami Geological Brigade of the Xinjiang Geological Bureau, geological workers recently discovered a large vanadium titanium magnetite deposit in the Weiya mining area of Daquanwan Township, Yizhou District, Hami City, Xinjiang. The estimated iron ore resources are 358 million tons, the associated titanium resources are 21.5 million tons, and the associated phosphorus resources are 5.55 million tons

The relevant staff of Hami Geological Brigade of Xinjiang Geological Bureau introduced that this deposit has reached the scale of large-scale iron ore, large-scale titanium ore, and medium-sized phosphate ore. The deep and peripheral parts of the mining area still have good mineralization conditions and huge prospecting potential, which is of positive significance for improving the resource guarantee ability of iron ore, titanium ore, and phosphate ore in China. It can provide reference and inspiration for the exploration of vanadium titanium magnetite in areas with similar geological conditions

Vanadium titanium magnetite is a composite ore with multiple metal elements coexisting, mainly composed of coexisting magnetic iron ores containing iron, vanadium, and titanium. Geological workers, based on the collection and research of preliminary geological survey results, conducted comprehensive exploration, evaluation, and research, using drilling as the main verification method, and discovered thick and large disseminated ore bodies and penetrating block shaped ore bodies in the Weiya mining area

According to personnel from the Xinjiang Department of Natural Resources, since the implementation of a new round of breakthrough strategic actions for mineral exploration in China in 2023, the strategic mineral resources of iron, gold, beryllium, antimony, potassium, lithium, fluorite and other minerals in Xinjiang have significantly increased, exceeding the targets set by the Ministry of Natural Resources; The 14th Five Year Plan; Add resource quantity task
